What path should I use for uploading my site?

You should choose /public_html.

/public_html is the default root for all your website pages and is where the .index file should be located. Files for serving over SSL should also be placed here (On Linux hosts please ensure 'Use same directory for SSL and non-SSL content' is checked in 'Web Site Setup').
